Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was a child of faith, raised in a loving family and was supported by his parents. He was the oldest of four children born to Elder T.E Oyakhilome, one of the first pioneers of the Assemblies of God Church in Benin City, and Angelina who is the matriarch of the Oyakhilome family, who imparted her faith in God's grace upon her son from an early age.

His brother Reverend Ken, is the esteemed pastor of Christ Embassy's Houston, Texas Church and a member of Christ Embassy Central Executive Council as well as his sister, KattyWorghiren, is the director of the LoveWorld Music and Arts Ministry (LMAM), which houses a variety of global best-selling gospel artists.

Pastor Chris is the father of two daughters, Carissa Sharon (Charlene) and Chris. Carissa Sharon chose to follow in her father's footsteps of sharing the Word of God to all people. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome attended Edo College and was awarded an award from Bendel State University to study architecture. He has an honorary divinity degree from Benson Idahosa University. Christ Embassy has a strong presence throughout Pastor Chris's homeland of Nigeria. The ministry operates two healing schools that are located in South Africa.

Music and Gospel Music form an integral aspect of worship. Pastor Chris encourages Christ Embassy Churches that a choir is trained through Loveworld Music and Arts Ministry. Many of these vocal talents will go on to have successful solo careers under the direction of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
