Welcome to the first Minecraft 1.12 snapshot! We will be doing many more snapshots over the coming months as we continue to add more features and enhance the core game. This snapshot will introduce you to many new blocks, and is a useful addition to Creative Mode. Before you load your worlds into any of these snapshots, please make sure to back them up. Another option is to create a new one whenever you wish to test new features.

Save toolbars using Creative Mode using Ctrl+Slotkey, and load them with Shift+Slotkey. Add colored Concrete blocks. - Added colored concrete powder blocks. The addition of colored Glazed Terracotta block. Updated Minecraft's color palette (affects Banners and Sheep). Updated textures for Wool blocks.

Open your launcher and click the "New profile" button to get snapshots. Name it "snapshots" then check the box that says "Enable experimental snapshots that are being developed". Save. You can switch to the normal version by selecting it in the dropdown at bottom left of the launcher. Backup your entire world before you play the game in a different folder (see the "new profile dialog").
