Mojang did an excellent job with 1.15 with the release of 1.15, which improved overall performance. Minecraft gets 9/10 for performance. TNT is still causing lag spikes, so it doesn't receive the full marks.
Overall gameplay: We will break this category into 6 sub-categories like story, open-world structures, enemies, animals, bosses.
The open-world of this game is huge. This game definitely scores 10/10 for open-world.
Now it's time to get interesting - Minecraft has almost no story, but! You can make your own adventure maps based on stories and share them on the internet. However, this would be better placed under the customization category. Minecraft is rated 5/10 in the story category, but I believe this is the best.
This is a difficult one. The game features some fantastic structures, such as the ocean monument, woodland mansions and shipwrecks, includes some boring structures, like desert pyramids, which require a variation, and the same thing about the jungle pyramids. There are also some grotesque structures, such as the desert wells which are boring, as are the dungeons. These structures can be a real challenge. Minecraft scores 6/10. It's a good thing because I really love the whole shipwreck - treasure mechanic, however, I think that the majority of the structures are really easy.
This game has a very diverse range of enemies. I enjoy fighting most of them. Minecraft scores 10/10 in this category because I really like fighting them and I think that they are perfect for this game.
While the game's animal collection isn't as extensive, as the enemies, it's still vast. I think that they should add more wild animals. because of that, Minecraft gets 8/10 for this category.
There are two main bosses in the game: Ender Dragon, Wither, and a few minibosses like Elder Guardian, Evoker. I don't think bosses are a good fit for Minecraft, but at least one additional boss would be fine I think so. Minecraft scores 8/10 in this category.
I've done my calculations and have concluded that Minecraft receives 8/10 marks in the overall gameplay category.
Graphics: The graphics of this game are very similar to 8-bit games. It is possible to improve it using shaders, but more on this in the customization section. Minecraft is rated 10/10 in this category. Minecraft would have a 9/10 rating prior to 1.14 However, Mojang did a really good job in 1.14.
Controls: The controls of Minecraft are amazing, and you can even change them to your liking. Minecraft definitely gets 10/10 in this category.
