In contrast to normal video games, Minecraft allows you to be in control of the game, and it even has options allowing players to act as moderators and even build their own modding/coding directly into the game!
This is a list of things you can do once you have clicked the buttons on your main menu.
- SinglePlayer Start or Continue a simple game. The remainder of this article will cover the options for starting an game in SinglePlayer mode.
- MultiPlayer: Join other players online.
- Languages Modify the language of Minecraft text. The small button to the left of the Options button will show a speech bubble with the globe.
- Options: Manage game options such as graphics, sound, mouse controls, difficulty levels and general settings.
- Quit Game: Close the window, unless you're playing in In-Browser mode.
1. To see a complete listing of all worlds, click the SinglePlayer button
This list is not necessary when you are just beginning Minecraft.
2. Click the Create New World button to begin a new game.
The Create New World page opens.
3. Enter any name into the World Name text box and click on the Create New World button at the bottom of the screen.
Game cheats increase or reduce the difficulty of your game and switch between Creative mode (or Adventure mode) when you enable them. Cheats give you more control over your world when you're just beginning.
After you have created your world, the game starts by generating the world and putting your avatar (character) within it.
Survival
After being randomly placed in a new environment, players have to try to survive by accumulating materials, building shelter, gaining experience and battling hostile mobs.
Creativity
A game mode in which players have instant access to nearly all items and blocks are invulnerable and immune to death, and have the ability to fly. This game mode allows players to create/design unique worlds.
Adventure
Players interact with objects (levers buttons, levers) and mobs to complete an adventure.
Spectator
Invisible to everything and is unable to interact with objects, blocks, or your inventory. This mode allows you to view other players' worlds.
Hardcore
Hardcore is similar to survival mode. Players cannot respawn and the map is set to "hard".
