The Brody household's animal Bloodhound Friend chases after a cat and is caught by other felines in an ambush. Felines and pet dogs are revealed to be extremely smart, tech-savvy opponents efficient in speech, waging war with covert operatives while concealing their true nature from humans.
At a regional barn, a litter of Beagle puppies mock the most significant and earliest leader for trying to escape captivity. A Doberman Pinscher representative changes the litter with a pack of Miniature Pinscher representatives, failing to observe the youngest Beagle. Carolyn, the Brodys' matriarch, arrives to embrace a new canine and chooses the Beagle, naming him Lou after her son Scotty sardonically recommends the name "Loser".
Recognizing Lou is a civilian, Butch raises his concerns to his superiors but is rebuffed. Lou is informed on the origins of the dispute in between felines and dogs, going back to Ancient Egypt when cats ruled the world. Butch reveals that Friend has escaped the felines and the spy trade, retiring to a condominium in Boca Raton.
Tinkles, a white Persian feline, plans to exploit the Brodys' patriarch Professor Charles' research on dog allergies to dominate the world. His computing is interrupted by Sophie, his comatose owner's maid, who enjoys dressing Tinkles in awkward costumes. Tinkles orders his partner Calico, an Exotic Shorthair, to send out Devon Rex ninjas to steal the research study.
Mr. Did you see this? contracts a Russian Blue mercenary named Dimitri Kennelkoff, who techniques Lou and puts a bomb on Brody's lab door. Kennelkoff fights Lou and Butch, harming the Brodys' home until Butch disables the bomb and catches Kennelkoff. Throughout the interrogation, the pets recuperate a note by Mr. Tinkles from Kennelkoff's stomach.
