This year I completed my Undergraduate studies and graduated with a first in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh.

However, due to refurbishment, I didn't get to graduate in McEwan hall. As a result, the only time I've had the chance to appreciate McEwan was during my second year Probability exam. It was not the best time to stare at the ceiling's murals.

As a surrogate , we chose Usher hall, the hall that where the majority of symphony and chamber music events take place in.

Given how small the Informatics class is, we were bundled up with the school of Engineering. This meant that we had two honorary degree speeches. I'm not sure what the engineer did. The Computer Science speaker got the deal to develop minecraft for the Xbox.

I guess that's vaguely interesting.

One of the most unique aspects about the University of Edinburgh is that we don't have a mortarboard cap. Instead, all graduates wear the same cap. When walking across the stage, the vice-chancellor bops each student on the head.

Fun fact: Piers Sellers offered the hat to be carried into space. Spaceships can explode (and the hat is sort-of important) an emblem of the university was launched into space, and then sewn onto the hat.

I was booed on the head with an oversized space-hat.

I was able to buy enough tickets for my parents and grandparents. My family came to visit just a few weeks earlier and we walked together throughout Ireland and the highlands.

I had one ticket left and Jammy was free on a Saturday morning.
Minecraft Phantom: Spawning, How to Summon, and how to Loot

The Minecraft Phantom is a flitting hostile mob that preys on those who have spent three in-game days without sleeping for three days. You can spot them from far away by their green eyes So be ready.

The trail of puffy grey smoke that a Minecraft phantom leaves behind is the trail of puffy smoke. It can be observed in creative mode, since it doesn't strike. If struck by an enchanted sword by smite or injured by the instant damage effect the Minecraft phantom takes additional damage. However, they're immune to poison and can reverse the effects of instant damage potions.

They attack by swooping downwards, and they don't stay at a single spot for long. This makes it difficult to strike a good hit with your bow. The best method to defeat the phantom is to use a sword. You can also send your tamed Wolf. If all else fails, the ghost isn't one of the cats, and will usually stay about 16 blocks away from cats - it will flee if your feline is tamed.

Minecraft phantom creating

There is a difference in the way Phantoms appear in Java and Bedrock editions. The official Minecraft Wiki has more details.

Java editon: Minecraft phantoms can spawn in the Overworld during nighttime or during thunderstorms. They will always spawn over you, making it difficult to avoid these ominous creatures. If you're suffering from insomnia and have gone three or more days without sleep, be prepared to hear the hollow cries of a phantom as it covers the sky over you. To make matters worse Phantoms are more likely to reproduce the longer you've been able to sleep.

To create a Phantom, you must be at at sea level and not have any obstructions overhead that block light. In order to allow the phantom to appear in Minecraft, it must be located below the phantom's two-foot light limit. You can expect to hear the squeak and flapping wings of 1-6 Phantoms. They will spawn between 20-34 blocks higher than you.

Minecraft phantom summoning

You can summon a phantom from Java edition by using a Minecraft cheat. This requires you to allow cheats in the world. You can summon a phantom from any Minecraft world using the chat window and '/summon command' If you do not want Phantoms appearing at all it is necessary to set the doInsomnia game rule to false.

Of course, you'll need to change the time of day to night, otherwise the phantom will spawn on fire, just like any undead mob in Minecraft.

Phantom loot in Minecraft

You can easily earn rewards if you kill the Phantom. Minecraft phantoms drop valuable items, and XP.

Phantom membranes 0-1 - 5 experience orbs

If you're interested in what Minecraft membranes can be used for, they could be used to make Minecraft potions, such as the Potion of Slow Falling. You'll require an brewing stand, bottles of water, and blaze dust. Minecraft phantom membranes can also be used to repair Broken Elytras.

Address of the bookmark: https://community.windy.com/user/feetflat9

Minecraft Horses How to Control a Horse In Minecraft

Looking for how to tame a horse in Minecraft? These tameable Minecraft mobs can be used as a useful way to explore new Minecraft seeds thanks to their quick speed and ability to squeeze through small openings in blocks.

Minecraft horses can also climb hills, leap fences, and even swim in shallow water - making your horse the ideal vehicle to explore. Once your Minecraft horse is tamed it can be outfitted with armour and a saddle. Be sure to keep an eye out for your horse in survival and adventure mode while riding. Your horse's health needs to be kept an eye on in the event that you come across some in the process of scavenging Minecraft Phantoms. You can use your usual items while riding your horse. This includes potions, weapons, blast furnaces, and crafting tables, or blast furnaces.

If you don't want to tame a new horse in Minecraft, you can breed your own by feeding two horses that are tamed to trigger love mode - an official term, in case you're wondering which results in foals. Foals can't be tamed until older, but they can be fed to accelerate growth. If you're seeking a method to tame a horse using Minecraft, or once your foal has grown up this article will assist.

When you are taming the Minecraft pony there are a few things you need to consider. The horse's temperament meter varies from to 0-100. When you first mount the horse the taming threshold will be assigned to it. This means that unless the Minecraft horse exceeds this taming threshold the horse will remain wild however, you can influence this threshold by feeding your horse sugar, wheat, or apples.

So what do you feed horses in Minecraft? In order to be able to eat the food, the horse must be hungry. Select the food item you want to feed the horse from your hotbar, hold it in your hand and then approach the horse with care and then feed the food on the horse by pressing the right mouse button.

Don't be concerned If you're first being bucked off. This is normal and is actually quite realistic for wild horses. You'll have to get back on the horse until you've reached the threshold for taming, no matter how many times it frightens you off. Once the horse hits that threshold hearts will appear above the horse - congratulations on your new pet!

Where can I get a horse from Minecraft?

Minecraft horses will spawn in savannas and plains in herds of approximately 2-6. All herds are the exact same color, but the horses' markings might differ. You can also find horses in Minecraft villages, naturally creating in stables or animal pens.

We'll hope it doesn't get to this however, if your Minecraft horse is kicked, then it will drop between 0 and 2 leather, 1-3 experience and horse armour if equipped.

Minecraft horses aren’t the only adorable creatures. Minecraft bees can also help you get the Minecraft honeyblock. The Wild update also includes Minecraft frogs. However, we don't have any information about their behavior, aside from that they're cute and hop around looking cute.

Once you've got your glitzy clip-clop, go back to your homestead to design one of these Minecraft farms ideas. Although it won't affect the horse in any way, this is a clever idea.

Address of the bookmark: https://harboe-davidson-2.blogbright.net/five-steps-to-create-an-awesome-minecraft-server-1667939013

Minecraft Vs. Roblox: how these Games Compare for Kids

Minecraft and Roblox are extremely popular sandbox-style games. Both allow you to design games, interact with other players and of course play for hours. Each has its own online community that is always available to help. However, Roblox and Minecraft are very different when you dig into the details. Here's how they compare on five essential elements:

THE CONTENDERS

Minecraft. Ideal for ages 8+. Open-ended, exploratory and creation-focused environment where players can design objects and structures from scratch using materials they gather from the world.

Roblox. It is recommended for users aged 13+ A game-creation website where users create and upload their own games and also play other games in a multiplayer environment.

Price

Minecraft has a higher start-up cost ($26.95 for PC and Mac), while Roblox utilizes the "freemium/premium" model.

Roblox allows users to play games and design small numbers for free. However, you must join to enjoy the more fun stuff like customizing your avatar, trade weapons and create new games. Roblox's in-game currency Robux can be purchased on a per-order basis. However it's recommended to sign up for the Builders Club ($5.95 per month), which removes ads, lets you manage more games and gives you daily Robux.

Easy to Use

Both games are challenging but they're also part of the game's unique enjoyment. Minecraft does not provide any instructions, however it offers three levels of difficulty. You can learn to play Minecraft through exploration the game, playing around and watching YouTube videos and reading other fan-made content (there is a lot of it online).

Roblox provides two modes of play that allow you to play and create. Although it offers lots of options however, it can be frustrating as the games are created by users. Roblox provides a lot of information, a wiki , and an active community for children interested in making their own games.

Social Aspects

This is the largest wildcard. Both games support multiplayer play, Minecraft lends itself more to solo play, while Roblox is social from the moment you sign in -- and friends and chatting is a major part of the game. Take a look at our guidelines on social media for children who are in elementary school. Roblox and Minecraft both have lots of user-generated content. Players of all age groups, including teens, play and play in the game. Your child can be exposed to explicit language, violent images, and sexually explicit images via any content created by users. You can control some of these through the game's built-in controls. Roblox allows you to disable chat and block users. Minecraft lets you "ignoreother players, but doesn't restrict what you can talk about.

Safety

There are instances of inappropriate predatory behavior in multiplayer and chat modes. Roblox has expanded its child safety program to include parental controls, human moderators, and other features to deter offenders. You can play Minecraft on your own or with a limited number of friends. Contact with strangers is restricted. However, if your child would like to play on a server that is public, find one that's kid-friendly.

Kid-Friendliness

Both Minecraft and Roblox have huge online followers which means that kids can access a lot of additional content , including websites, YouTube videos, even Reddit forums that can expose them to mature topics when they're searching for information about the games. Also, Roblox lets users embed advertisements into their games, so kids will encounter in-game marketing. Violence can be an issue in both games, but while Roblox's user-uploaded games tend to be more of the shooter/explosion/disaster variety, Minecraft's leans more toward hand-to-hand combat, even though it's depicted in a cartoonish way.

Learning and Creativity

Yes! Both games teach basics of computer programming (Minecraft uses an adaptation of Minecraft to Java, and Roblox uses the Lua programming language) However, Minecraft is the superior game in the sense of being education-friendly. Both games also encourage math skills, thinking and reasoning, problem-solving, and collaboration. Because of the digital content you can make and the interaction with other gamers, both games are becoming more popular in after-school programs, computer camps, and teachers' lesson plans.

Our suggestion? Given the Wild West nature of both of these games, you should consider being with your child while he or she learns to play. You can also check out the forums and videos to find out which game is the most appropriate to your child's age and experience as well as their interests.

Address of the bookmark: https://urlscan.io/result/7eeaf346-7cc0-4ffa-b81c-72859ee258f9/

Minecraft Launches PS4, Vita, Xbox one In August

The Xbox One, PS4 and Vita versions of Minecraft are scheduled to launch in August for $20, Mojang announced today. The game will be $5 on Xbox One and PS4 for players who have Minecraft on Xbox 360 and PS3. Cross-Buy titles are available on Vita. This means that if you already have Minecraft for PS3 you can purchase it on Vita. All PS3 DLC can be played in the Vita edition, but not all skins or texture packs will work on PS4 and Xbox One versions due to licensing agreements.

Minecraft: Xbox One and PS4 editions have more worlds than the current generation versions, and they both let users import save data from Xbox 360 and PS3 + Vita games and PS3 + Vita games, respectively. However, saves won't transfer from the next-gen system to current-gen.

"There are technical reasons for this. We can expand our worlds without too much stress, but reducing them creates all sorts of problems," Mojang says.

The upgrade program for $5 will be in effect for at least one year following the launch of August.
